BTC’s summer programming has something for everyone! 
Please note:  Sign up is REQUIRED for most activities! Available to rising 8th through 12th graders.

Community Service Monday’s

(rising 8th-12th graders)

BTC staff will take a group of teens to local shelters and non-profit organizations to give back to the community.  Each teen that participates in a Monday community service event gets the opportunity to participate in the FUN FRIDAY event for FREE! 

Community Service will take place from 1-3/4pm on Monday’s.  BTC will be open to those registered to enjoy the Center starting at noon.  After the community service work, the groups can come enjoy the BTC space from 4-6pm.  This time will include dinner or hearty snacks! 

Please note:  Although Monday is dedicated to Community Service, the BTC has other options as well.  Check out the sign-up genius below for details.

Want a little additional incentive?  Work a minimum of 5 weeks (at least 1 service event/week) through BTC this summer and get $150 at the end of the summer!  Be the participant that attends the most BTC community service activities at the end of the summer and win a grand prize (to be announced).  FUN Friday’s are also FREE for those that participate in the week’s community service activity.

Music Technology Workshop

(rising 8th-12th graders)

This summer BTC will offer a two-week intensive music program (Mon-Thurs from 12-1pm) that will provide each participant with the foundation they will need to start producing music on their own. Each student will learn how to use the tools that all music producers utilize when making hit songs!  Those signed up can enjoy the BTC Open Center time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  Participants are also encouraged to join in on Monday Community Service Days after the workshop (see sign up above).

Music – Studio Time

As always, BTC will offer both open studio and reserved studio time this summer.  Please see below schedule.  To book your reserved time, please see the following link:

Book Studio Time

Open Studio:  Monday-Thursday, 5-6pm

Reserved Studio Time:  Tuesday-Thursday, 1-3pm, 3-5pm; Friday, 12-2pm, 2-4pm, 4-6pm

Open Center Time

(rising 8th and 9th graders)

The Center will be open every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1pm-4pm EXCLUSIVELY for rising 8th and 9th graders.  Students must register and a non-refundable $10/fee per day is required.  Please note – limited space will be available.  Please reach out if you need financial assistance (info @brooklineteencenter.org)

Rising 8th and 9th graders that sign up and attend, 1-4pm can also stay for the full open center time from 4-6pm.  Dinner or hearty snacks will be served at that time.

Open Center Time (for rising 10th-12th graders)

The Center will be open every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4-6pm to rising 10th-12th graders.  Registration is not required.  Dinner or hearty snacks will be served. 

Work Opportunities

(rising 10th-12th graders)

Department of Public Works – BTC is focused on keeping our community parks clean. BTC will be providing paid opportunities Tuesday – Thursday through Brookline Department of Public Works.  7 weeks:  Tuesdays-Thursdays from 9:30-2:30pm.  8 opportunities available. 

Youthscapers – Youthscapers is a BTC’s program that supports teen employment by coordinating and supporting teen small job opportunities within Brookline. BTC works with residents to handle tasks including car detailing, yard work/mowing, light moving, etc.

Fun Fridays!

The BTC has some fun activities planned for Fridays this summer.  Did you participate in a BTC volunteer activity this week?  FUN FRIDAYS are for YOU!  Sign up is required and limited spots available. (students will be responsible for MBTA costs and food purchased at off-site activities).  How do you get to participate in Fun Fridays? – Sign up/participate in a BTC Community Service Activity that week to be eligible (please note limited spots available). See schedule below:

Laser Tag (July 14th):  BTC will host laser tag at the Center. The game will operate 10 Laser guns at a time on a rotating schedule in the basement of the Teen Center. Laser tag will take place from 2-4pm.

Coolidge Corner Movies (July 21st). BTC staff will take teens to the Coolidge Corner movie theater to watch a film (TBA). Coolidge Corner is providing tickets, popcorn, and a drink for BTC guests!  12:30 departure for 1pm movie. 

Borda Borg (July 28th):  The Teen Center and 16 youth members will be taking a trip to Malden by train for a fun two hours of STEM stimulation and problem solving. We will leave the Teen Center around 1pm to travel to Borda Borg for a 2-4pm time slot.  (Each youth member is responsible for their MBTA transportation costs and any food/drink they choose to purchase while at Borda Borg). 

Duck Tours (August 4th):  BTC staff will escort a group of up to 20 teens into Boston for a historic Duck Boat Tour!  Students and staff will leave the Teen Center at approximately 12:30 for a 1:30pm tour.  Tour is 80 minutes long. (Each youth member should consider bringing money for a drink/snack if needed and MBTA transportation costs)

Red Sox Game (August 11th):  BTC will be escorting a group of 17 youth members to the 7:10pm Red Sox game. This event also includes on field access for batting practice and meeting players!  Teens and staff will leave the Center at 2:30 to attend batting practice. (Each youth member should bring at least $20 for something to eat & drink inside of the stadium and money for MBTA transportation costs).

Coolidge Corner Movies (August 18th):  BTC will take its second trip to the historic Coolidge Corner movie theater to watch a film (TBA). Coolidge Corner is providing tickets, popcorn, and a drink for BTC guests!  12:30 departure for 1pm movie. 

Summer Madness (August 25th):  The BTC will host a carnival style, outdoor bonanza to celebrate a successful summer vacation coming to a close. ALL Youth Members will be invited to enjoy the festivities including food, music, and games. Time TBD.
