Brookline Engineering Project – Young Makers Program – Spring Session – Alternative Tier 1 class: This class is essentially three unique classes meeting concurrently, with high school mentors assigned to each discipline. Each of the three classes focus on a specialized area: coding, 3D modeling and remote control cars. The coding group will focus on physical programming, using the micro-controller Arduino to learn how code from their computer to turn on lights, drive mini-cars, avoid walls, measure temperature and more. Club GRCB: Club GRCB is Girls Rock Campaign Boston‘s year round program for girls and gender non-conforming youth in 6th-12th grades. During Club, youth form bands, write original songs, record their music, make music videos, and perform at the end of the semester! Additionally, Club participants engage in a variety of arts, music, social justice workshops, and instrument instruction. Tuesdays, 3:00-6:30, at Brookline Teen Center. From 3:00-3:30 we provide snacks and homework help. Tuition for Club GRCB is on sliding scale between $0-$350. Rap 101

Rap 101 is an introductory workshop series at the Brookline Teen Center where aspiring emcee’s will learn what it takes to write, record, and perform an original song. Through immersive writing exercises and exposure to music fundamentals lead by experienced BTC music staff, students will collaborate on their songs with teen musicians who will provide original hip hop production.  Open to 7th and 8th graders, Rap 101 runs on Wednesdays, 3:30-5:00, from March 21st to May 16th, with a final performance on Monday, May 21st.  For more information click here or email Wes at wkaplan@brooklineteencenter.org.

MEDIAGIRLS, an eight-week program for 6th-8th grade girls, will run at the Brookline Teen Center on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 pm to 5 pm starting March 21st. Participants learn to challenge pop-culture messages aimed at girls; engage in thoughtful discussions about current media trends, make new friends in Brookline, and write inspiring content for girls using social media. Brookline Engineering Project – Spring Session – Tier 2 : Brookline Engineering Project Tier 2 will build off of the skills learned in the first class.  The class will be student driven and project oriented.  The curriculum will be loose and largely based around students’ individual and group interests.  Students will select and work on a few projects of their choice throughout the session.
