Mission Statement: Our names are Henry Shaffer and Jake Boyd. We are both BHS seniors and  the current Directors of the Brookline Tutor Mentor Program (BTMP). The Brookline Tutor Mentor Program was founded in 2014 with the mission of connecting Brookline High School students and Brookline Middle School Students (6th, 7th and 8th graders), not just for academic tutoring, but also to build bridges across the community. The program is completely free and we welcome students of all socioeconomic backgrounds. BTMP believes that middle school students can benefit both academically and socially from the mentorship of a high school student.…

Brookline Engineering Project – Young Makers Program – Winter Session – Tier 1: The Brookline Engineering Project seeks to excite and educate students in middle school and high school about robotics, technology and engineering. This student led organization is a project-based learning environment where Brookline students can tinker, build and learn. Brookline middle schoolers can participate in a regular class from 6-7 pm on Monday or Thursday nights. This introductory engineering class gives students a taste of engineering and the engineering process. Club GRCB: Club GRCB is Girls Rock Campaign Boston‘s year round program for girls and gender non-conforming youth in 6th-12th grades. During Club, youth form bands, write original songs, record their music, make music videos, and perform at the end of the semester! Additionally, Club participants engage in a variety of arts, music, social justice workshops, and instrument instruction. Tuesdays, 3:00-6:30, at Brookline Teen Center. From 3:00-3:30 we provide snacks and homework help. Tuition for Club GRCB is on sliding scale between $0-$350. Design, Code, Play – Introduction to coding: Ever wanted to design your very own video game? It’s easier than you think! This class will introduce students to a beginner coding language which uses stacks of colored blocks to create complex code. This method allows students to easily learn the basic concepts behind coding rather than focusing on tedious syntax. Students will plan, design, and create their very own video games, which they will be able to play and share with friends. Archery – Winter Session: On the Mark Archery, is coming to the BTC to teach archery to middle school students.  Join the program that has everyone raving about, one of the world’s most exciting sports: recurve archery. Patience, focus and discipline are the only things needed to find success and achieve consistent shot groups. Our lesson plans engage students in unique challenges each class while balancing out individualized attention and feedback.
