Cher Duffield was born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Cher spent the first 15 years of her career as a strategy management consultant, nonprofit grant maker, and nonprofit strategic advisor. She worked in the Boston area, and also in England, Scotland, and continental Europe.
Upon having her fourth child, Cher began to do yoga regularly and soon trained as a power vinyasa instructor, being attracted to the physical and emotional release of the flow practice. Cher completed her 200-hour teacher training at a Baptiste Yoga affiliate, Shakti Vinyasa Yoga, in Seattle, WA. She has done additional training in hands-on assisting and currently studies alignment-based flow with Natasha Rizopoulos and Iyengar yoga with Patricia Walden, both at the Down Under School of Yoga in Brookline, MA.
Cher currently teaches at several places near her neighborhood of Brookline Village and in Boston. She teaches vigorous and gentle flow classes, yin and restorative yoga. In these classes, Cher uses the yoga poses to build students’ strength, balance and flexibility. She strives for every student to leave class feeling mentally and physically transformed and wanting to return.
Off the mat, Cher enjoys being active with her English husband and four children, spending time hiking and skiing in New Hampshire, running marathons, traveling (China, India, Morocco) and continuing to explore where life will take her. Cher graduated magna cum laude from Yale, was a Fulbright scholar at Oxford where she received an MBA, and has an Ed.M. from Harvard.
